Montgomery County Police Chase ends in fatal gunfire









Beginning around 6pm Saturday night, a 19 year old man was held up in a home in the 500 block of Highland Road in Pottstown Borough, Montgomery County. Some time after midnight the man was able to gain access to a Hummer H3 suv and lead police on a high speed chase onto Rt. 422 heading eastbound towards King of Prussia. Some where around the Limerick-Linfield exit Pottstown police discontinued the chase, at that point a Royersford police car as well as State Police from Skippack and Belmont barracks began to chase him. The vehicle exited the highway at Egypt road and headed towards Norristown. Upper Providence and Lower Providence police as well as West Norriton police now began to assist. The vehicle with both passenger side tires down to only the rims, pulled into a Wachovia bank parking lot at Main and Egypt Roads in West Norriton. According to Chief Adams of West Norriton Police department the 19 year old pointed his gun at police who approached his vehicle and he shined the laser sight at one of the officers, they then began to fire at him. The vehicle was hit multiple times as well as the driver. The driver was taken from the vehicle by Plymouth Ambulance personnel and transported to a near bye park where a medical helicopter took him and an accompanying state trooper to HUP where the male died of his wounds. 32 pieces of ballistic material were marked at the scene.
