Police shoot three fleeing suspects in Old City



A Philadelphia Police Officer from the 6th District was struck by a Ford Expedition as it drove at a high rate of speed, eastbound on Chestnut Street from 2nd to front streets in Old City early Sunday morning. The officer and a Septa officer discharged their weapons multiple times, striking three males who were in the vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene and about 30 minutes later was spotted at the Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania in West Philadelphia. One of the suspects walked into HUP for treatment, he then fled but was apprehended by responding University of Pennsylvania, Transit, and Philadelphia Police. Two other suspects were caught a short time later and were taken to Central Detectives. About two hours after the shooting occured, those two suspects were taken to Hahnemann hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. None of the injuries to the officer, or the suspects appear to be life threatening. This is the second shooting on this block in Old City in the past month.
